Abstract
918,502. Knitting machines. WIBKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. Oct. 15, 1959, No. 34974/59. Class 74 (2). A straight bar machine with hooked knockover bits and with either all jack sinkers or jack sinkers and dividers, is provided with means for eliminating, when desired, the advance of the jack sinkers or jack sinkers and dividers into a fabric holding down position between completion of one course and rise of the needles for the next course. The in-and-out motion catch bar lever 5 has one roller 6 which runs on a single lobe of a cam 7 to provide a single in-and-out motion, and a second roller 12 which can be slid into and out of the path of a second lobe on the left-hand half (in the Figure) of a member 10 secured to the cam 7, to change to and from the double in-and-out cycle. When, for narrowing, the main shaft 4 is shogged in the direction X, the roller 12 can run on the right-hand half of the member 10, which then takes over the task of the narrowing cam 9. The lever 5 might be provided with only one roller axially displaceable between engagement with a single lobed and a double lobed cam.
