In a method of prevention of glare from a brilliant light source, a sodium nitrate polarization plate of the scattering type, e.g. of the type described in Specification 862,732, is arranged in front of the light source and a polarization plate of either the absorption type or the scattering type in front of the eyes of the person illuminated by the light source. A vehicle lamp is described having the usual bulb and parabolic reflector, the front lens being formed by parallel glass plates having rough ground surfaces facing one another with the interposition of a thin crystal of sodium nitrate, forming a polarization plate of the scattering type, a similar plate or one of the absorption type being arranged in front of the eyes of the driver.
