Abstract
917,803. Valves. BUHRER, W., and BUHRER, Jun. W., [trading as ELMASS, W. BUHRER & SOHN]. July 10, 1961 [July 15, 1960], No. 24939/61. Class 135. A stop-cock comprises a body a made of a compressible plastic, such as polyethylene, and having a passage c therethrough, the body having tubular extensions b and a partition c in the passage integral with the body but slit into two half portions, the edges of which abut against each other, the arrangement being such that when the body is compressed in the direction of the slit, the latter opens so as to form a passageway. The body is of rectangular shape and, as shown in Fig. 4, when the body is compressed on its end faces, a passageway e is formed. In a modification, the slit may be formed in the direction of the narrow side of the body with a rubber band, surrounding the body.
