In a door latch the runner 15 is coupled by tensile springs 20 to the casing, the bolt 17 is also coupled by a compression spring 26 to the casing, and both the runner 15 and the lath or tail 16 of the bolt 17 have lateral abutments 18, 19, the abutments 18 on the runner 15 engaging the follower 11, and the abutments 19 on the lath or tail 16 engaging the abutments 18 on the runner 15.
