Abstract

1,125,379. Latches. J. LEGGE & CO. Ltd. 17 March 1967 [14 April, 1966], No. 16327/66. Heading E2A. A latch includes a spring bolt having a head 14 and a lath 13, the lath comprising a plate (not shown) secured to the bolt head and formed with side walls 13a, 24 and 25 and lugs 15, 16. Rotation of a follower 20 withdraws the bolt against springs 9a, 9b, and also moves a U-shaped slipper 26 in the opposite direction to the bolt, against springs 8a, 8b. Springs 8 are stronger than springs 9, so that a small force is required to withdraw the bolt by engagement of the bolt head with its striker (not shown), the bolt then moving independently of the slipper.
