915,150. Stop motions. COMPTOIR DE L'INDUSTRIE COTONNIERE ETABLISSEMENTS BOUSSAC. Aug. 1, 1961 [Aug. 12, 1960], No. 27810/61. Class 120 (2). A thread feeding system in a textile machine comprises a thread feeding roller 3, a pressure roller 1 urged towards the roller 3, and a thread guiding arm 5 which has a thread guide 8 and is rotatable about the pivot of the roller 1, the arm being normally held in a thread-guiding position (as in Fig. 1) by the tension of the thread 2 but also being biased to rotate in the opposite direction by means which preferably comprise a weight 13 attached to the arm so that should the yarn break the guide arm 5 rotates clockwise to bring friction surface 15, fitted over a boss 16 on the arm (see Fig. 3), into contact with the driving roller 3, so that the arm 5 is quickly rotated through about 180 degrees to its second position (see Fig. 5, not shown) where the broken end is clear of the adjacent threads, the position of the friction member 15 being such that it then lies out of contact with the driving roller 3. In addition, at this second position of arm 5 a fibre tongue 18 mounted thereon comes between the rollers to lift roller 1 and suspend drive thereto. So that the stop motion does not come into operation when the whole machine is out of use and the thread is not running, a brake 21 is moved into contact with friction surface 15 by an anti-clockwise rotation of a rod 22 running throughout the length of the machine. The arm 5 may be made of nylon.
