Abstract
914,268. Rectifying. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. June 1, 1960 [June 11, 1959], No. 19427/60. Class 38 (2). A rectifying arrangement comprises parallel connected controlled semi-conductor rectifiers 3, 7, 11, which may form one branch of a polyphase bridge circuit, the control electrode of only one rectifier 3 being connected to control voltage source 2. In series with each rectifier except the last is a current transformer 4 whose secondary winding is connected to the control electrode of the next succeeding rectifier through a resistor 5, so that conduction of rectifier 3 makes rectifier 7 conduct, which in turn makes rectifier 11 conduct. Auxiliary rectifiers 6 prevent reverse potentials being applied to the control electrodes of rectifiers 7, 11 when the previous rectifier stops conducting. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), a single current transformer has its secondary connected through separate resistors to the control electrodes of both the remaining rectifiers. The auxiliary rectifiers are then connected in series with the resistors. The main rectifiers may be four layer rectifiers or switching transistors, which operate like thyratrons.
