Abstract
914,261. Catch fastenings; stud-and-socket fastenings. GRAHAM, W. Aug. 15, 1960 [Aug. 31, 1959], No. 29640/60. Class 44. A necklet clasp or fastener has an undercut rail or a narrow-mouthed groove on one side adapted to engage slidably with a corresponding groove or rail on the adjacent side of a further clasp or fastener. As shown, each clasp or fastener comprises a V-shaped spring 5 which is engaged in a cavity 8 of a box 9 to be held in engagement by a catch 7 abutting a flange 11. Each box has a dove-tail shaped rail 15 on one side and a similarly shaped groove 17 on the other side. The groove terminates in a flange 16 for locating one box relative to the other. In a modification the rail and groove are each of part-circular cross-section. Instead of one box being provided with a rail and a groove it can be provided with two rails the other boxes each having a rail and groove. In this construction the slot 10 which receives the catch 7 in the outside boxes are offset towards the centre box to make it impossible to insert the V-shaped springs in the wrong box. The V- shaped springs can be provided with means for connecting them together if desired.
