911,567. Doubling yarns. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. April 19, 1961 [April 26, 1960], No. 14170/61. Addition to 905,488. Class 120 (2). In the method of intertwisting two threads 3, 4, according to the parent Specification, the point 5 of twisting or doubling is held away from the second braking device by a ring 25 positioned between the device and the eyelet 7 and coaxial with the false-twisting spindle (not shown), the inner and outer threads passing through and outside the ring to the twisting point. The position of the ring may also determine the balloon control. Optimum results are stated to occur if the ring is so shaped that it presents, in the places where the threads slide thereover, the shape of the arc of a circle with a radius of curvature of at least ten times the diameter of the cord 6. The ring may have sharp or rounded edges and, as shown, it is secured to a disc 26 by a retaining-ring 27.
