Abstract
<PICT:0911471/IV(a)/1> An apparatus for converting plastic materials into fibres by centrifuging consists of a concave rotating distributer 4 secured to a hollow driving shaft 5 inclined to the vertical. Molten substance is supplied to the distributer wheel 4 from a pipe 7. The liquid is dispersed in the form of a sheet which is substantially intercepted by a plurality of fibering wheels 1 surrounding and rotating faster than the distributer. The fibering wheels may be constructed of high strength steel or plastic and the distributer wheel may be of steel, ceramic, carbon or plastic. The wheel 4 may be heated or cooled by a flow of fluid through the hollow shaft 5, or by hurling fluid which would be removed by centrifugal force outside the fibering wheels.
