A dispenser comprises a blade with two serrated edges 2 joined to form a wedge shape, and a tubular boss 3 projecting at one side of the blade and supporting the core 4 of a tape 5. In use, the tape 5 is drawn out sideways from the reel, severed on one or both of the serrated edges 2, an upstanding portion being left attached to the reel for grasping. The dispenser may be held in the hand, or affixed to a surface. In other embodiments, the boss is split and provided with a core-retaining rim; a hinged cutting part may be provided to facilitate packing, or cutting blades may be located on both sides of the boss.
