Abstract

909,897. Liquid atomizers. DEFENSOR A.G. April 3, 1959 [April 12, 1958], No. 11447/59. Class 69 (3). In a liquid atomizer driven by an electric motor 21, liquid in a container 11 is drawn up a rotating tube 30 and is thrown from centrifugal discs 25, 26 through passages in an atomizer rim 32, the atomized liquid then being carried away by a primary air stream and unatomized liquid being returned to the container 11 through a pipe 39. The primary air stream is induced by blades 31 on the underside of the disc 26 and is controlled by a throttle 41 and flows past the atomizer rim and then through an outer annular passage between jackets 55 and 56. A secondary air stream, which is mixed with the primary air stream after leaving the atomizer, is induced by a blower 54 and is drawn through radial ducts 53 to an inner annular passage between the jacket 56 and a cap 61, some of this air passing through a passage 58 to cool the electric motor. The various parts of the apparatus are easily dismountable for cleaning. A wall mounting for the atomizer, an air filter, and apparatus for controlling the level of the liquid in the atomizer are also described.
