A fitting for attaching a leg 7 to the base 4 of an article of furniture comprises a body having a head 1 and an externally screwthreaded stem 2, the body being formed with a leg receiving bore 3, the head 1 having on a surface 6a remote from the stem a resilient part 9 whereby, when the fitting has been installed by passing the stem 2 upwardly through an opening in the base 4 of the article and has been secured by a nut 5, the fitting may be employed either as a foot presenting a resilient face for contact with a table or like surface, or else for the anchorage of a detachable leg 7 having an upper portion which fits into the leg-receiving bore. The bore 3 may be screw-threaded or it may be plain to receive a leg portion as a sliding frictional fit, the leg being shouldered to limit the extent of leg insertion if the bore passes completely through the stem. The bore 3 may be inclined to the stem axis so that the leg 7 will have a sloping inclination.
