Abstract

907,285. Refractory bricks. OSTERREICHISCH-AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT A.G. March 17, 1961 [March 21, 1960; July 6, 1960], No. 9897/61. Class 51 (2). A refractory brick comprises at least two different co-moulded refractory masses and at least one sheet insert, e.g. of metal, asbestos, &c., disposed between the different materials at least over a major part of their interfaces and extending over at least a major part of the length and/or width of the brick. The embodiment of Fig. 6 has a central insert 19 with punched-out tabs 17, and a lower U-shaped external casing 28<SP>1</SP> welded to an internal U-shaped insert 24<SP>1</SP>, 25<SP>1</SP> opposite to an upper flat external plate 21 welded to an internal U-shaped insert 24<SP>11</SP>, 25<SP>11</SP>. Different refractory materials are indicated at 27, 27<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>11</SP>, and one of the external casings may have a hanger tab moulded into one end of the brick, to be raised when required. Another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), has no central insert and material 27<SP>11</SP> replaced by 27; another, Fig. 2 (not shown), has only one internal U- shaped insert rising from the lower external casing almost to the top plate with again refractory materials 27, 27<SP>1</SP>. In the simplest form of brick, Fig. 1 (not shown), there are no external casings, but only a central insert between two different refractory masses. The refractory materials may comprise magnesite, chromite, magnesite-chrome, chrome-magnesite, stabilized dolomite or forsterite. Specification 749,491 is referred to.
