Abstract
903,527. Ladders. SCAFFOLD PRODUCTS (COVENTRY) Ltd. Feb. 20, 1961 [June 9, 1960; Dec. 19, 1960], Nos. 20241/60 and 43522/60. Class 20 (2). An anti-slip device for a ladder comprises a leg 35 held in an angularly-adjustable clamp 34 on a plate 31 secured to the ladder 33 so that the leg may be turned into the operative position at an angle to the ladder or the inoperative position parallel to the ladder. The leg or clamp engages inclined sides of stops 40, 40a in the operative position and a flat face 54 of the stop 40a in the inoperative position. The bolt 37 is the pivot for the clamp 34 and also clamps the clamp on to the leg. The modification shown in Fig. 6 is adaptable for both sides of a ladder by placing the bolt 37 in either of two holes in the plate 31, the stops 40, 40a each having two inclined sides 52, 53 to provide an engagement for the leg or clamp in the two alternative arrangements. The face of the plate 31 engaging the ladder may be ribbed or it may have pads with inclined faces to cause the leg to splay outwardly.
