Abstract

903,074. Rectilinear-motion bearings. TORRINGTON CO. Feb. 17, 1961, No. 5930/61. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] A rectilinear recirculating roller bearing 12, between the splines of a shaft 8 and sleeve 7, comprises a number of rollers 15 placed along the outside surface of a continuous raceway 13 having two parallel straight-sided portions and connecting semi-circular ends. At one edge perpendicular to the raceway and roller axes is flange 14 and at the opposite edge channel flange 19 with side 18. Together these flanges form the means of retaining the rollers. The semi-circular ends 20 of the channel flange 19 have side 18 extended to enclose the rollers for the greater part of this end portion and thus form a closed outside return track for the rollers as they move round the bearing ends. The raceway 13 and flanges 14 and 19 may be of integral construction or made up to a like form.
