Abstract

902,470. Clamps. WILKES BERGER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Nov. 30, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44439/59. Class 44. A fastening device for holding two parts such as the lid and body of a case in closed condition comprises a catch-plate 11 for attachment to one part and a lever-actuated hasp 7, 8, 9, 10 for attachment to the other part and engageable with the catch-plate, resilient means operatively associated with the hasp and an operating lever 4 formed with side flanges 6 which are pivotally attached to a pair of lugs 3 carried by a base-plate 1. As shown, the hasp is disposed within a casing 12 pivotally attached to the lever 4 and is loaded by springs 14. In other arrangements (not shown), the hasp parts 7 and 8 are discontinuous and are connected by springs (Fig. 3), the hasp parts 7 and 8 include bowed portions (Fig. 4) and the hasp parts 7 and 8 are formed for a portion of their lengths as helical springs (Fig. 5).
