Abstract

902,218. Cooling motors. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. May 3, 1960 [May 27, 1959], No. 15555/60. Class 79(3). [Also in Group XXXII] In a motor vehicle, provision is made for conducting air required for the operation of the engine into or out of the engine space by way of gaps between panel parts of the body, there being at least one substantially horizontal gap located at the lowest point of an air passage communicating with the engine space, each of the said passages being formed directly by the panel parts bounding ,the respective gap and by other vehicle parts located on the inside of the said panel parts, each gap having, opposite to it a baffle surface which causes a sharp deflection, by at least 90 degrees, of air flowing through the passage. As shown, horizontal gaps 9 are .provided between the side parts 4 of the bonnet 3 and the wings 7 (Fig. 2) and between the wings 7 and an end wall 2 (Fig. 3): In Fig. 3, a gap 13 is provided between the engine compartment 14 and a door 5.
