Abstract
901,100. Knitting-machines. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 28, 1959, No. 7049/59. Class 74 (2). Control mechanism is provided in a circular machine, for example, for controlling the yarn guides, clamping and severing mechanism or bolt cams for the needles, and comprises a series of cam packs each of which consists of at least one rotatable cam 26, 27 secured to a ratchetwheel 23. The cam packs are each mounted and revolve about a common axis, and are actuated by pawls 19. The pawls are pivotally mounted in a carrier 18 which is continuously oscillated by an eccentric 14 so as to cause the pawls when engaged with their ratchets to rotate the cams. For the purpose of selectively controlling the cams, the pawls are rendered operative or inoperative by their tails 19a engaging levers 21 which are raised or lowered by cam discs a<SP>1</SP> . . . h<SP>1</SP>, thereby causing the pawls to engage or otherwise their respective ratchet as they are advanced by the carrier 18. The discs are rotated by a lever 48 actuated from a pattern chain turning the shaft on which the discs are mounted through a chain 47 connected to the arm at one end and a boss 42 at the other.
