Abstract

An acidic coagulant such as aluminium sulphate or an alum is added to turbid water to reduce the pH below 6,9 and then "Cottrell flour" is added in an amount which will augment the coagulation but will not increase the pH above 6,9. "Contrell flour" is a product recovered from the stacks of a Portland Cement works.
