Abstract
899,977. Lined cartons. PNEUMATIC SCALE CORPORATION Ltd. May 27, 1960, No. 18850/60. Class 18. A lining sheet 15 is adhered to a marginal edge 38 of a carton blank 12 to leave the remainder of the sheet 15 free and the secured edges of the composite blank 10 are applied to a mandrel 66, the blank 10 is wrapped therearound and the unsecured edges of the blank 10 are folded to overlap the secured edges and adhered thereto to form a tubular structure. The blank 12 is provided with adhesive on end flaps 30, 32, 34, 36 and with an adhesive strip 40 to which the sealing flap 38 is stuck, the adhesive being of the pressure sensitive type not activated until pressure is applied. The inner face of the flap 38 is provided with a liquid adhesive strip to seal the liner 15 thereto in the offset position shown in Fig. 1. The liner 15 is provided with pressure sensitive adhesive strips 54, 60 to seal the edge 56 to the edge 58 and to seal the bottom closure respectively. To form the bottom closure the end wall portions of the liner are folded outwardly and the side wall portions are simultaneously folded inwardly and pressed together so that the strip 60 secures them. The carbon side flap 32 and then the flap 30 are folded down and adhered. End flaps 34, 36 together with triangular tabs 70, 72 of the liner are pressed down to complete the closure.
