Abstract

The invention comprises the D, the L, and the DL forms of N-dichloroacetylserine; the alkali metal salts thereof; the preparation thereof from an alkali metal salt of the serine and dichloro acetyl chloride in alkaline medium, followed by separation of the alkali metal salt product, or by acidification and extraction of the free-acid product; and therapeutic compositions containing the above compounds. Therapeutic compositions may be administered orally, parenterally, or topically, and are useful as diuretics and in causing regression of certain tumours.
