Abstract

899,561. Stays. PERRY BROS. (HALL GREEN) Ltd. March 6, 1961 [March 8, 1960], No. 8078/60. Class 65(1). An adjustable stay comprises telescopic elements of oval, octagonal or other non- circular section the outer element c being pivoted at c<SP>2</SP> to a window frame and the inner element c<SP>1</SP> being pivoted at c<SP>3</SP> to a bracket d which is itself pivoted at d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> to a bracket e fixed to the window, a hand lever f being pivoted at #<SP>4</SP> to the bracket d and serving to rotate the inner element within the outer element to obtain a binding effect and thus secure the window in a position of adjustment. The bracket d is assembled in the bracket e by inserting the pivot d<SP>2</SP> into an aperture e<SP>5</SP>, passing the pivot d<SP>1</SP> into an aperture e<SP>3</SP> through a lead-in slot e<SP>4</SP>, and then turning up an abutment e<SP>6</SP> to prevent the bracket d from returning to the position in which the pivot d<SP>1</SP> can pass out through the slot. A stud g is provided on the frame to engage an openended slot d<SP>3</SP> in the bracket d when the window is closed, a cam slot #<SP>2</SP> which may be engaged with the stud by turning the lever f being also provided to lock the window in this position. The window may be held slightly open by engaging the stud with an aperture #<SP>7</SP> in the lever.
