Abstract

898,760. Making filter-tip cigarettes. TABAKUND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. Feb. 11, 1960, No. 4810/60. Class 130. Groups 2, Fig. 1, each comprising a doublelength filter tip flanked by two cigarettes, and having stuck thereto glued connector bands 5, are sucked from troughs 4 of a suction conveyer 1 into troughs 20 of a drum 12, the troughs 20 being pivotable first in one direction to cause leaf springs 28 to wipe down one flap of the bands 5 and then in the other direction to cause wiping down of the other flap by an endless band 35 running without slip on the drum 12. The wrapped groups pass heaters 38 and are subdivided by a cutter 39 before being guided on to a conveyer 40. Suction is applied to the troughs 20 at appropriate times via ducts 25, 26, Fig. 3, a part-annular duct 27, rubber pipes 23 and apertures 21. The troughs 20 are pivoted by ball-bearing rollers 32 running in a stationary cam track and connected to the troughs by arms 34.
