Classes 20(2), 20(4) and 87(1) A brick unit comprises a plate 1, Fig. 5 having on one face salient portions 3, 6, respectively, disposed one at each end and a further pair of similar salient portions 4, 5, intermediate said end salient portions and projecting from the said face a greater distance than said end salient portions, said salient portions having inwardly directed cogs or tongues 7, 8, 9 and 10 at their free ends. Such bricks are interlocked together in horizontally and vertically staggered relationship in a wall construction forming cavities 23, 24 therebetween which may constitute thermal and sound insulating cavities or may be filled with concrete to bind the bricks together. Alternative embodiments comprise; a brick in which intermediate salient portions 35, Fig. 2, each having two tongue members; an arcuate brick for a curved wall; and bricks having corrugated outer faces. Notches 27, 27, Fig. 2, may be provided in the bricks to form conduits for piping or for reinforcing rods. Terminal or column forming bricks 29, 30, Fig. 6, are described.
