Abstract
897,496. Mirror mountings; selecting optical paths. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. May 27, 1960 [May 27, 1959], No. 18788/60. Class 97(1). A device for selection between alternative optical paths comprises a mirror 1 which is secured to a carrier 2 pivotable about an axis 3 by a leaf spring 5, one end of which is secured to the carrier 2 and the other end of which is fixed between pegs 6, 7 on a fixed plate 10. A peg 11 depending from the carrier 2 co-operates with pawls 8, 9 to define the end positions of the mirror I in each of which the spring 5 is fully stressed. Movement of the mirror from one end position to the other is effected by operating a handle 12 or electromagnet 13 having a lost motion coupling with the carrier 2. On such operation a cam 14 is rotated and releases the pawl through a spring urged plunger 15 and eccentric 16 before the carrier 2 takes up the motion of the handle. Immediately upon release of the pawl the spring 5 moves the mirror towards its other end position where it is held by the other pawl engaging the peg 11.
