895,905. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. GARRETT CORPORATION. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 6, 1957], No. 35576/58. Class 135. Pneumatic control apparatus includes a pneumatic control pressure chamber 28 having a pressure-responsive wall 26 movable against a resilient force, inlet and outlet passages of which one, e.g. the inlet, is provided with a restricted orifice 31 whilst the other is controlled by a valve comprising two co-operating movable flow-controlling elements such as a valve member 26, connected to a thermostat 15, 16 and a valve seat 24, connected to the movable wall 26, so that the apparatus acts to maintain a control pressure in the chamber determined by the thermostat. As shown, the thermostat 15, 16 is positioned in a conduit 10 and the control pressure actuates a valve 14 controlling the flow of a medium in this conduit in accordance with its temperature. In an alternative embodiment, the inlet to the control pressure chamber is controlled by a valve comprising a piston-type closure member carried by the thermostat, which co-operates with a ported hollow sleeve carried by two spaced diaphragms of which one encloses the chamber.
