Abstract

895,254. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids. DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. Oct. 20, 1960 [Nov. 21, 1959], No. 39570/59. Class 135. A bursting disc 10 which is clamped by an annular flange portion 9 between two body parts 7, 8, to close a flow passage 6 through these parts is provided with a perpendicularly upturned skirt 11 located in a groove 12 formed between the parts 7, 8, the width of this groove being less than twice the thickness of the skirt so that it is not possible accidentally to fit more than one disc. The skirt may be continuous or discontinuous and the disc may be of annealed pure nickel of thickness 0.005 inch with a bursting diameter of 7/16 inch. The top end of the skirt 11 may be bent into an undercut in the part 8 to retain it on this part. The groove 11 may alternatively be formed wholly in one of the body parts 7 or 8.
