Abstract

894,811. Garment racks. ARMATURHANTVERK A. B. Oct. 10, 1960 [Oct. 10, 1959], No. 34642/60. Class 52(5) Accidental removal of coat &c. hangers 12, slidable on a support rod 5 of a garment rack, is prevented by a head 14 at the free end of the suspension hook 13 and a retaining rail 18 spaced from the rod a distance less than the width of the head, the rail being formed with notches 10 to allow attachment and detachment of the hangers. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the rod 5 is bolted to end brackets 2, 3 which are screwed to the underside of a shelf 1 and have vertical slots 17 into which the vertical limb of the rail is passed before mounting of the bracket. In a modification, shown in Fig. 5, a support rod 27 is mounted between wall brackets and beneath spaced rods 29, 30 which form a hat rack the rod 30 having a depending notched flange 31 to retain the hangers. Projecting tongues on the flanged rod engage slots in the bracket arm to prevent rotation of the rod.
