Abstract

894,318. Rotary leaf filters. SIMONACCO Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959], No. 42072/59. Class 46. A sector of a leaf for a rotary vacuum or pressure filter consists of two plates 1, 2, with intervening spacers 3 and with intervening side sealing strips 4, 5 and a sealing strip (not shown) at the wide end. Each plate has rows of apertures 13 and the outer surface of each plate is at least partly grooved; the grooves may extend at one end into a channel 12 partly surrounding the grooved portion of the plate as shown. The apertures are arranged to give optimum distribution of suction during filtering and of compressed air for removing the filter cake, e.g. by being more widely spaced towards the wider end of the sector as shown. Preferably the apertures are spaced from the side edges of the plate (as shown), especially at the bottom, or leading edge, so that filtrate blown back during cake-removal will be accommodated in the channel thus formed instead of being expelled through the apertures.
