Abstract

1471153 Rotary suction filter SIMONACCO Ltd 7 Aug 1974 [5 Sept 1973] 41769/73 Heading B1D A continuous rotary vacuum filter of the type having filter discs with sectors having filtering faces of filter cloth to which vacuum and pressure may be applied in turn through rotary distribution valves 14 wherein a blanking disc 15 separates discs 12 with sectors 13 into two groups. Each group has a different sequence of pressure application, one group of four picks up filter cake whilst on suction through the bath, expels a little liquid and adhering filter cake on emerging from the bath (in direction of arrow 18) and then sectors are subjected to suction to drain residual liquid from sectors. The slurry in the bath is thus thickened as it progresses down the bath 10. The final two discs have sectors subjected to vacuum whilst immersed and this is maintained until sectors pass their highest point whereupon a blast of air dislodges dry filter cake into ducts 15 on each side of disc. The blanking plate is movable and may separate any combination of plates providing that the two functions are performed. Different sequences of vacuum and pressure are applied through each of the rotary distribution valves 14 and axial passages in shaft 11.
