Abstract
894,146. Intruder alarms, DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO. Ltd. Oct. 21, 1960 [Nov. 5, 1959], No. 37513/59. Class 118. A rotating narrow beam of radiation (preferably infra-red) from a source 12 (Fig. 1) or 62 (Fig. 5) is reflected from stationary reflectors 16 (Fig. 1) or 66 (Fig. 5) as a series of radiation pulses to a detector 14 (Fig. 1) or 70 (Fig. 5); output signals from the detector are compared with a series of electrical signals corresponding to the radiation pulses, and an alarm is given when the output signals are interrupted. The beam of radiation may be produced by a lamp co-operating with a rotating reflector or with a rotating shutter having an eccentric aperture. The shutter may also include magnetized areas which co-operate with a stationary pick-up to produce the series of electrical signals corresponding to the radiation pulses.
