A locking device suitable for securing the pivoted latch of a window comprises a stop bar A (secured to the window frame) having a member B hinged to it and a sleeve C slidable on it, the sleeve C when in its locking position preventing the member B from pivoting downwardly. The sleeve is locked in this position by spring loaded plungers P1, P2 situated in bar A and whose noses protrude into recesses in the sleeve C. A key K having projecting pins k depresses the plungers P1, P2 to release the sleeve C, thereby allowing pivoting of bar B and release of the latch.
