Abstract

An aqueous detergent composition comprises (a) an alkylbenzene sulphonate containing 10-18 carbon atoms, e.g. sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, and (b) a water soluble salt of sulphated castor oil, especially the sodium salt, generally in an amount of 5-20%, and preferably 7-14%, by weight. The composition usually also contains an alkyl sulphate such as sodium lauryl sulphate, and may also contain a polydiol such as polyethylene glycol, and an alkylphenol polyglycol ether, while the total content of surface active substances in the composition is preferably more than 15% by weight. Polyphosphates, such as sodium hexametaphosphate, triethanolamine, perfume, buffers, and optical brighteners may also be included.
