Abstract

892,292. Weighing apparatus. VICKERSARMSTRONG (ENGINEERS) Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 14, 1959], No. 16596/59. Class 143. An automatic feed weigher, of the kind in which material is fed into a compartmented rotary drum which is held stationary while a compartment is filled and released to rotate and empty the compartment and bring another compartment into position for filling when the first compartment has received a predetermined load, is provided with a plurality of subsidiary compartments each of which is associated with one of the main material receiving compartments and serves to catch any material fed to the drum during its rotation between the filling positions of two successive main compartments. As shown cement clinker or the like is continuously dispensed from a supply source 18 into a rotary drum 6 carried by a counterweighted beam 1, the drum comprising end cheeks 9 and divided into main compartments A and B by partitions 10, 11, 13 and 10, 12, 14 respectively with the curved partition members 11, 12 extending outside their respective main compartments to form scoops which constitute the subsidiary compartments. The drum is held stationary until the beam tilts by the engagement of a cam 15 carried by the drum with a fixed roller 17 and the material retained by each scoop is weighed with that in its associated main compartment. A revolution counter (not shown) is used to record the total quantity of material fed by the weigher to the receptacle 19.
