888,825. Feeding records in punching machines. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. May 2, 1960 [May 4, 1959], No. 15289/60. Class 31 (2). [Also in Group XVI] A record feeding device for intermittently feeding a record past a punching station 118 comprises an outer disc 3, Fig. 1, having a flanged periphery 4, an inner disc 2 mounted for eccentric rotation against the inner face of said flanged periphery and driving a drum 120, Fig. 4, which supports and steps the record past the punches of the punching station 118. The records are first put on surface 111, Fig. 4, and when a pawl 110 is released they are fed by rollers 113, 112 on to the drum 120. Here they are gripped by an endless belt 121 guided around the drum 120 by rollers 122, 123, 124. The drive by the inner eccentrically mounted disc 3 effects an intermittent hypocycloid movement so that the record is substantially stationary for punching. After punching, the record is ejected by a rapid feed comprising a cone 138, Fig. 5, engaging the outer surface of the flanged periphery 4. The cone is driven by a pulley and belt and is shifted axially by an electromagnet 146. When the cone is returned a brake 137 engages the periphery 4.
