Abstract

A mobile lubricating composition comprises a lubricating oil containing (a) up to 40% by weight of the total composition of a mixture of polymeric organic aluminium compounds of the general formula (O Al O O CR)n where n is greater than 1 and R represents at least one saturated or unsaturated alkyl or aryl radical containing from 6 to 30 carbon atoms, and (b) a minor amount of cetyl alcohol. The radical R is preferably such that R.COOH is oleic acid. The amount of cetyl alcohol may be from 0,5 to 5% by weight. The preferred polymer has n=3. The base oil may be a mineral oil and may contain 8-hydroxyquinoline as an anti-gelling agent. Specifications 806,113 and 825,878 are referred to.
