Abstract
Up to 5% by weight aluminium is added to boron nitride powder and the mixture is hot pressed. The aluminium may be added as aluminium powder, aluminium nitride, or as a mixture of aluminium nitride and boric oxide. The hot pressing is effected at 1750 DEG C. and 600 p.s.i. or at 1800 DEG C. and 520 p.s.i. According to the Provisional Specification the aluminium may also be added as a mixture of calcium carbonate and alumina.ALSO:Up to 5% aluminium is added to boron nitride powder and the mixture is hot pressed. The aluminium is added as aluminium powder, aluminium nitride, or as a mixture of boric oxide and aluminium nitride. Hot pressing is effected at 1750 DEG C. and 600 p.s.i. or at 1800 DEG C. and 520 p.s.i. According to the Provisional Specification the aluminium may also be added as a mixture of calcium carbonate and alumina.
