A single ring or both the inner and outer rings e and f of a ball-race are made by pressing a metal ball a between dies d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> and machining away the web portions h, g of the resulting pressing. The ball is supported by three members p which are retracted during the pressing which may be performed hot or cold. In a modification, the ball a and the bore containing the dies d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> are of the same diameter and the members p are dispensed with.
