Abstract
887,028. Cigar-making machines. ARENCO A.B. Dec. 29, 1958 [Jan. 22, 1958], No. 41930/58. Class 130. [Also in Group VIII] In apparatus for severing and transferring sheets, e.g. cigar bunch wrappers, from the leading end of a web B of paper or tobacco, the member 12 which transfers the severed sheets from the cutting position D to an operating table C forms a stamp coacting with a knife 20 in a die 11 to cut the sheets. The member 12, which holds the severed sheet by suction passages 14, is connected to a pivotal lever 28 and has projecting guides 24 which slide in a block 25 fixed to a rotatable shaft 27. The lever 28 is oscillated by a cam-operated rack 31 to swing the head 12 away from the cutter 11 and down to the horizontal table C, the consequent rotation of the shaft 27 serving, through a driving band and one-way coupling, to rotate the feed roll 2 to feed a fresh portion of the web B to the cutting station D. The cutter D comprises a stationary block 15, Fig. 6, carrying a cutting blade or wire 20, which is lodged in a recess 21 of a resiliently mounted block 11. When the head 12 returns and presses on the block 11, the latter is forced back so that the blade 20 passes through the web into a cooperating recess 22 in the head 12.
