Abstract

886,564. Foaming slag. CHOCHOLA, J. Sept. 11, 1959 [Sept. 13, 1958], No. 31124/59. Class 22. [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for cooling and ripening foamed slag comprises a feed inlet 15, a series of inclined shaking troughs 3 1 , 3 2 , 3 3 , 3 4 , 3 5 arranged in cascade fashion, and adjustable ventilators 4 under each trough to supply cooling air to the underside of each trough and to the stream of slag as it falls from one trough to another, and a crusher 5. The top trough has an imperforate bottom which is water cooled and the remaining troughs are perforated. The slag is fed via 15 to an impact bridge 1 and a baffle 2 deflects the slag on to the first trough from where it proceeds via the other troughs to the crusher 5 for final crushing to size. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the cooled slag falls on to a grader where the fines are removed, the coarse slag passing through a water cooled shoot to a crusher.
