Abstract

885,274. Cooling cylinders; spray carburetters. PORSCHE, F. May 12, 1959 [May 31, 1958], No. 16198/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(3). [Also in Group XXXI] Cooling air from a blower 6 on the crankshaft of a horizontal cylinder motor vehicle engine passes to cooling air ducts 9, 10, arranged beneath the cylinders 1 to protect them from dirt from the roadway; from the chambers 9, 10, the air flows upwards past the cylinders and is deflected sideways to atmosphere by a casing 22, 23, extending over the cylinders. The ends of the space above the casings 22, 23, are closed to form a triangle-shaped depression in which are accommodated the carburetter 40, fuel pump 42 and ignition distributer 41, the upper flanged edge of the recess being sealed against the vehicle floor by a sealing ring 35. The top of the recess is closed by a removable plate 39 in the vehicle body.
