Abstract
884,907. Windscreen wipers. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. June 30, 1958 [July 23, 1957; Aug. 22, 1957], No. 20873/58. Class 138 (1). In a windscreen wiper for motor vehicles the shaft of the wiper is adapted to provide a movable member co-operating with a fixed stop member or members to limit the amplitude of the wiping movement. As shown in Fig. 1 the wiper shaft 1 is keyed to a pulley 3 round which the driving cable 4 passes. A fixed member 8 extends into a groove 5 in the pulley and engages resilient members 6 at each end of the groove to limit the oscillating movements of the pulley. Excess movement of the cable is taken up by its natural elasticity or by a spring. In Fig. 5 the wiper shaft 1 is positively driven by shaft 5 through bevels 3 and 4. The rear end of the shaft 1 has a cranked portion 11 which engages adjustable stops 8 to limit movement of the shaft. Excess movement of the drive may be taken up at the electric driving motor.
