Abstract

A fastener in the form of a single strip of spring material comprises a head 13 in the form of a split tube having an open mouth and a foot in the form of either a split tube (Fig. 2) or a major segment of an annulus 30 and also having an open mouth (Fig. 7), the head and foot being spaced axially and joined by an elongate body 11, the head and foot having their axes inclined at a small angle and having their open mouths in the same angular positions with respect to their respective axes, and the edges of the split tube defining the open mouth of the head being bent inwardly of the head to form flanges 20, 21. Fig. 5 shows an assembly of a clip, an externally stepped shaft 27 and a rod 23 located in a base 25 in the shaft, the flanges 20, 21 gripping the rod 23 to hold it in place, while the foot of the fastener grips the shaft.
