884,009. Discharging quills from a hopper. DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORPORATION. Dec. 19, 1957 [Dec. 19, 1956], No. 36210/60. Divided out of 884,008. Class 78 (1). Hopper 11 for feeding quills for processing is formed with a sloping floor 13, a front wall 15, vertical walls 27, 25, and sloping baffle 23 so as to facilitate the flow of the quills to the shaker conveyer 19, the conveyer discharging the quills through opening 21. The conveyer is provided with side walls to prevent the quills falling over the side edges thereof and has cutters to cut the threads attached to the quills. Two shaker conveyers which are separated by a hump-backed partition, may be provided.
