Abstract
1,162,814. Telescopic shoot for potatoes. P. D. F. FERREIRA. 10 Nov., 1966 [20 Oct., 1965], No. 44415/65. Heading B8S. In order to avoid damage to potatoes as they fall through a shoot, a shoot apparatus is formed of shoots 5, 6 and 7. These shoots are staggered left, right and left so that potatoes falling therethrough strike in turn walls 2, 3, pass through outlet 19, then strike wall 21 and finally exit at 32. In this way the fall of potatoes is retarded, the shoots being made of canvas. The shoots are supported from structure 8 by means of the ropes shown, the ropes being secured to eyelets 15 and freely through eyelets 14 and 13 secured to the shoots so that when a heap of potatoes is formed beneath the shoot unit the shoot 7 can be drawn upwards by means of the ropes, so as to avoid interference between shoot and potatoes.
