The subject-matter of this Specification is included in Specification 883,629 from which it has been divided but the claims relate to a temperature-sensing assembly including an expendable unit comprising a projecting temperature-sensitive element sheathed by a refractory insulating member the unit being mounted within one end of a heavy paper tube through which conductors from the unit extend and from which the sheathed temperaturesensitive element projects.
