Abstract
1,157,271. Temperature sensitive devices. R. A. P. WERTHEIM. 27 June, 1966 [26 March, 1965], No. 13039/65. Heading H1K. A temperature measuring probe is provided with retaining means 8 which is displaced on insertion of the probe into an aperture in a container 14. The retaining means 8 comprises a ring of rubber or neoprene with a deformable portion 9 which engages the inside of container 14 and is prevented from deflecting inwards by a projection 11 on a washer 10 which is sealed against the outside of the container 14 by locking nut 5. The probe may comprise a thermocouple mounted in the end of a needle 3, and a second thermocouple 16 may be provided to measure the temperature outside the casing. The temperature sensitive device may also be a junction transistor a resistance thermometer or a bulb mechanism.
