Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0883336/IV (b)/1> and the inorganic acid addition salts of those compounds containing a salt forming basic group, and the inorganic base salts of those compounds containing a salt forming acid group (wherein Hal is a halogen atom and R is an aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydrocarbon radical that may contain one or more halogen atoms or dialkylamino, ether, hydroxy or free or esterified carboxyl groups), and the preparation thereof by reacting a 1-(31-halogen-4-methylphenyl)-piperazine with a compound of the general formula X-CO-OR (wherein X is a halogen atom); and, if desired, transforming any benzyl ester or benzyl ether group that may be present in the product into a carboxyl or hydroxy group by catalytic hydrogenation, or, if desired, replacing any halogen atom (other than the halogen atom that is present on the 31-position of the 41-methylphenyl residue) by a dialkylamino group by reaction with a dialkylamine; also pharmaceutical preparations containing the products (see Group VI). Reference is also made to organic acid addition salts of compounds containing a basic group, and to the replacement of a halogen atom in R by reaction with ammonia or a primary amine. Specification 813,173 is referred to.ALSO:Preparations for parenteral administration against schistosomiasis comprise oily solutions or aqueous suspensions of compounds of the general formula <FORM:0883336/VI/1> (wherein Hal represents a halogen atom and R an aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydrocarbon radical that may contain one or more halogen atoms or dialkylamino, ether, hydroxy or free or esterified carboxyl groups), or inorganic acid addition salts (e.g. hydrochlorides) of such of these compounds as contain a salt-forming basic group, or inorganic base (e.g. alkali metal) salts of such of them as contain a salt-forming acid group. Specification 813,173 is referred to.
