Abstract

883,044. Boat release gear. JEFFERY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and WINTER R. W. Feb. 3, 1960 [Dec. 9, 1958; May 25, 1959], Nos. 39740/58 and 17784/59. Class 115. [Also in Group XXV]. A hydrostatic release mechanism comprises a bolt 4 and a casing 8 the head 42 of the bolt is releasably engaged in the casing by two levers 34 which are pivoted at 36 and connected to a collar 26 by links 32. When submerged, water enters the casing 8 via the hole 46 and acts on the diaphragm 10 to move it against the spring 18 together with the rod 16 bush 28 and collar 26 to release the bolt 4. The bolt 4 may be released manually by rotation of the external knob 56 and cam 54 which depresses the rod 16. The diaphragm 10 may be replaced by a piston sliding in the cylindrical casing 6. The links 32 may be replaced by rollers which act on a bush secured on the rod 16. The rod 16 may be moved against the spring 18 by a solenoid.
